How to Become Familiar With the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival

Introduction

"What is Coachella?" It's rare these days, but every once in a while, I'll run into someone who doesn't know what Coachella is. When it happens, I want to say, "Dude! What rock have you been living under? Coachella is only the greatest thing since..." But I usually just bite my tongue and explain that Coachella is a music festival held out by Palm Springs every year. But that explanation doesn't really do Coachella justice. It's arguably the BEST American music festival (though many would say Bonnaroo is) and probably the most influential. Coachella has launched the career of many artists, and resurrected the careers of others. Its close proximity to Hollywood's trend-setters and record labels have made it a prestigious event for artists to participate in... bands ASK to play there. Truth is, the magic of Coachella can't really be understood unless you've been there. But if you follow these steps, you'll have a good idea of what Coachella is all about, and why it's THE highlight of every year for a lot of people... (myself included!)
